They provide businesses across various industries with expert guidance in software hosting, project management and training. Their infrastructure required a robust, scalable, cost-efficient remote access solution to support around 2,000 users reliably and securely accessing applications.
CHALLENGES AND REQUIREMENTS
Alteva’s IT infrastructure relied on a Citrix-based system composed of 20 application servers. The company faced several challenges:
- High costs: A new Citrix version required additional servers, increasing hosting and licensing expenses.
- Scalability concerns: Supporting 2,000 users efficiently without compromising performance was a priority.
- Complex migration requirements: Transitioning without entirely reconfiguring their application servers was central.
- Security and integration: Ensuring Active Directory and other security measures seamlessly integrated was critical.
THE TSPLUS SOLUTION
Proof of Concept (POC):
A test environment was set up with two servers: a Gateway Server and an Application Server. Key functionalities tested included:
- HTML5 access to published applications.
- Active Directory integration for seamless user authentication.
- Custom login page for the Gateway.
- Load balancing and reverse proxy activation.
- Single sign-on session management.
- Folder redirection and clipboard.
Migration Process:
- A stress test was conducted, successfully connecting over 100 simultaneous users to the Gateway.
- To prevent reinstallation of application servers, ITS Integra opted for direct Citrix uninstallation, followed by TSplus installation and configuration.
- Despite complexities removing Citrix, TSplus installation was quick and intuitive, allowing for a smooth transition.
Deployment & Optimization:
TSplus was fully implemented across Alteva’s infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted access for all users. Thus, the system was optimized for security, stability and high performance.
